About the event
Heart The City is a run/walk located in the beautiful city of Oak Creek, WI.The race starts at remodeled Abendschein Park, will run through a part of Oak Leaf Trail, through residential neighborhoods and back to Abendschien Park. The event will be digitally timed by J3 Timing. The race will culiminate with a post race party that will include the awards ceremony, food, beverages and live entertainment. The race courses will be USATF certified to help you qualify for larger races. All 5K participants will receive a free t-shirt and all 10k participants will receive a free tech shirt.
Our mission is to bring awareness to the poverty and homelessness within Milwaukee, WI. Proceeds from this annual event will be used to support our new transitional living facility for the homeless that we are in the process of planning and raising capital to build.Our inaugural 2015 race was successful with 3 significant sponsors and 200 registered participants despite not having the funding to have radio or television ads. Our major marketing were flyers, posters, postcards and Active.com email and newsletter marketing. After receiving post race feedback through our website, we are expecting registered participation of 500-1,000 people for 2016.
With three significant sponsors in 2015, we want to triple that amount to offset the enormous cost of running a major running event. Sponsors are definitely welcome to attend the event and even set up tents or tables to promote their brand and service. Depending on the level of sponsorship, we will have some of our sponsors presenting awards during the post race party. Our title or presenting sponsor will have the honor of starting the races as well.
The event is organized by Revitalize WI, Inc, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was founded in late 2014 and received non-profit status in mid 2015. With the organizing body being a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, your sponsorship will be tax-deductible.
