About the event
Heart The City is a run/walk located in the beautiful city of Oak Creek, WI.The race starts at remodeled Abendschein Park, will run through a part of Oak Leaf Trail, through residential neighborhoods and back to Abendschien Park. For the 10K runner, you will also run through Oak Creek on Howell Ave, the main street through Oak Creek. The race will culiminate with a post race party that will include the awards ceremony, food, beverages and live entertainment. The race courses will be USATF certified to help you qualify for larger races. All 5K participants will receive a free t-shirt and all 10k participants will receive a free tech shirt.
Our mission is to bring awareness to the poverty and homelessness within Milwaukee, WI. Proceeds from this annual event will be used to support partner non-profits that work with the impoverished and homeless by providing them with material resources such as food, water, clothing, hygiene items and more.
Additionally, a portion of the proceeds will be used to the the Vita Village, a mini-home transitional facility for the homeless. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to the Oak Creek Police and Fire Departments.
Heart The City Run/Walk is organized by Crystal Pritchard and her Board of Directors of The Balm Shelter,Inc, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and Patrick Hansen, the Director of Revitalize WI, Inc.Why should you sponsor?
