About the event
HavenCon is the first geek and gaming convention in Texas to focus on the LGBTQIA and Ally communities. It is an event that people from all over can attend to enjoy their favorite fandom without the fear of judgement or harassment for simply being themselves.
Various artists, vendors, creators, and developers can come to show their support for the community or to raise awareness for an LGBT focused project of their own.
Discussions at the event range from; how to be a better ally to the LGBT community, Diversity in Game Development, Writing LGBT, and more.
HavenCon provides a forum for any discussion people feel passionate about in a safe and friendly manner.
We aren’t here to drive an agenda. We focus on getting the LGBT fandoms together, being ourselves, and having fun.
HavenCon has 2 parts; “Normal Hours” and After Hours.
“Normal” Hours allows for an all-ages space and is the bulk of our activities during the day. All panels and presentations are kept PG/PG-13 for the sake of our younger audience.
After Hours allows us to open up our venue for more adult, risqué or specialized discussions. Taboo topics are generally encouraged at this time and it allows people to explore, educate and entertain within topics focused toward our adult attendees. After Hours begins shortly after our “Normal” Hours ends and is only available to those 18 and over.
