    The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) boasts many organizations geared at unifying the South Asian students on campus, including Indian Cultural Association, Chalak and Sharara (Bollywood teams), TaRaas (Raas-Garba team), and Rangam (Indian Classical team). This year, we hope to unite our students again, in Hansini, the premiere Indian classical dance competition hosted by UTD. Out of the many collegiate teams that audition, we pick the top 8 teams to come compete at Hansini for the title.

    Over the last decade, many trained second-generation Indian classical dancers started collegiate teams in an effort to continue practicing the art forms. Students conceptualize, choreograph, practice and perform pieces at various local events and national competitions. While the grammar of the forms is retained, they push traditional boundaries and explore various ways to present the art form. Teams audition and compete at various national competitions throughout the year, which gives them an opportunity to showcase their piece and form a network with dancers from all around the nation. These dancers aim to tell a story and connect with audiences of all levels. Our audience, like our competition, is young and ambitious, so we want to build a reputation with you, our own sponsors, to promote both your ideals and our passion for spreading and unifying South Asian arts through beautiful classical dance forms.

    That’s where you come in. We want you to be part of this incredible endeavor. For Hansini 2018, we are seeking several levels of sponsors and are delighted to invite you to take part. This is Hansini’s second year and we already have a national reach of over 30,000 people. We’re rapidly growing and believe we can help you better connect with your audience through investing in us. Further details on sponsorship packages are listed farther down in this packet, we would also be thankful for any non-monetary donations that are made (e.g food, transportation, etc).

     

    As an organization run by UT Dallas students for both the DFW community as well as the national dance community, we believe our reach can help further your company’s target population. We regularly interact with over 7,000 collegiate dancers and artists across the nation as well as 30 dance schools in the DFW metroplex. While this provides a unique population, one of our main strengths is our reach to over 20,000 students at The University of Texas at Dallas. These students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and have a range of interests, but are all united by their youth and eagerness to explore. Through reaching out to a young population we believe we can help your company make lasting connections and build loyalty in the DFW area. UT Dallas is one of the nation’s fastest growing universities and holds not only an abundance of opportunities for its students but also for organizations like yours that are looking to make a lasting impression. In addition, our social media marketing has a reach of 40,000 people across the United States. These connections can truly help your company keep building its brand.     Hansini demonstrates the idea, “dancing, for a cause,” as it thrives to provide a platform for a lesser-represented cultural art form in collegiate competitions in conjunction to supporting charitable causes. A percentage of our profits from the competitions (via ticket sales and sponsorships) will be given to the non-profit organization Akshaya Patra. This organization runs school lunch programs across India and focuses on the importance of education. Through collecting money from various fundraisers and events throughout the year, they have been able to make visible changes in Indian schools. There have been higher enrollment and attendance rates. To this day, this group has served over 2.4 billion meals. Hansini, as a group, hopes to raise money and awareness for goals of the non-profit organization, Akshaya Patra. We believe that education should be accessible to every. Not all children are as privileged as many of us; we hope to make lives of children in need easier through helping satisfy their hunger so they can focus on their education. We hope to make a difference this academic year, and hope you become join us by contributing to our cause.
