Ten months, I will reach my 80 th birthday and 25 years of retirement from the Edmonton Public School Board. I plan to celebrate by breaking the Guinness Book World record for the longest electric bicycle ride. I will ride from Fairbanks, Alaska, to Panama City. This route is approximately 13,500 km, and it will take me a little over five months.
To accomplish my goal, I will have two others assisting me—one to ride with me each day and one to drive the support vehicle.
Along the way, we will record the journey using cameras, helmet cams, and a drone. Those images will appear on all social media and will be, hopefully, featured in a documentary series.
When you support this event you are promoting and active lifestyle especially for seniors. Secondary benefits are the promotion of electric bicycling, bicycle touring, environmental issues and helping to stamp out the stereotype that retirement and age limits what you do.

Why would you expect an 80 year to be able to complete this Odyssey
I am an active 79-year-old, and I am writing this just after returning from Texas, where I completed an eight-day solo bike tour of the Texas Hill Country.
My next trip will be in September in Spain, where I will do an eight-day Mallorca solo electric bike tour.
I am also actively organizing a 1500 km, 20-day cycling trip for 18 people, of which I am one, around Costa Rica starting Feb 12, 2022.
My partial adventure and cycling curriculum vitae is as follows
