    Why should you sponsor?

Okay, let me ask you a few simple questions today. How would you feel if you served your country and once you weren't fit (for whatever reason) to be used by your country and when your time came around for you to get support from them, your basic needs went unmet? You were welcomed in, they put on a good act as if they cared yet didn't help you with food, housing, or anything else for that matter? Did you know that billions of dollars are passed down from government agencies such as HUD to foundations, high polluted non profits (with huge administrative costs by the way) and other organizations claiming to care and this funding is not being distributed down to where it needs to go? Well that's why you see the so called nasty, despondent bum begging with a sign "I'm a VET" asking for help. You may even dread seeing this person day in and day out because in our minds, they are a mess up, non human, low life person and don't have a chance to get themselves together.
I'm getting ready to say something and yes, funding organizations get mad when I say it and at this point, I don't care because they know what I am saying is right. It appears if it doesn't benefit them in some way, they don't bite. If these organizations aren't going to do the right thing by our veterans, well then they should be made to do the right thing or get the hell out of the way and let us take care of our own. Many of our homeless veterans have no hope, empathy, guidance, or family to turn to because in society's minds, they are "crazy". Haven't you passed some homeless person and wondered the same thing too, it's unfortunately the norm. How can our society spend billions of dollars supporting people already rich, campaigning for office, sending people to space, doing various types of research and building elaborate structures that will be torn down or abandoned and not end homelessness? We need to take care of home first, and yes other people across the world need our help but those who have served definitely should not be HOMELESS, period And it's true, not all veterans will listen or drop their pride and get the help they need. Let's make a deal and help the ones that will listen and you can help me do this. Some of our homeless veterans have substance abuse problems, are suicidal (the rate is 22 per day by the way), or have severe mental issues reeking havoc on their lives. People, these are our treasured veterans too, just as well as the decorated veterans that are currently serving their country right now or gave their lives for our freedom. Is that why we freely say, "Thanks For Your Service" or is it just for the presentable veterans with their "act together"? Well, yesterday as you all know was Veterans Day, my goal by next Veterans Day is to end homelessness for those abandoned, discarded, and homeless veterans who are our heroes and are living on our dangerous streets while we are tucked away in our homes with at least a roof over our heads. We all love our veterans right or do you really mean it from your heart? I'm from the show me state so I will see how much you mean it on GiveMiamiDay on 11.16.17. Giving Tuesday is on 11.28.17 also
Thank you and may God bless you for taking time out of your busy day to read this post. Truthfully, it will take individuals and organizations connecting and committing to ending this senseless epidemic. If your are a veteran, supporter, organization, or family member that wants to join me to advocate for social justice and change the way our veterans are treated, please join Vet Connect Club on Facebook. You can email me at *****@****.*** or visit the website at www.vetconnectnow.org. I see a lot of posts go viral, if you even remotely care about humankind at all, let this post go viral. One thing I can honestly say is, homelessness has no demographics or racial divides,. I have seen homeless families sleeping out of their cars, working everyday to make ends meet. I have seen them sending their kids to school, working to keep themselves clean and bathing in Walmart hiding and trying not to raise attention to their plight and utterly afraid of children and family service taking their kids away. The most horrible case that I saw was when I lived in St. Louis Missouri (my birthplace by the way) and saw a veteran literally freeze to death right outside St. Patrick's Center, no one gave a rat's ass. This to me a horrible waste of life and someone could have prevented that tragedy from happening but didn't. Unused or abandoned building owners need to see this post and do the right thing by turning over an abandoned building to an organization to house these needy people. Veteran Connection needs land to build tiny and/or container housing. All donations are tax deductible, stop being selfish as you cannot take it any of it with you. Facebook even if you can't afford to donate anything on Give Miami Day, just hit like and you are welcome to comment, and please share this message in honor of our homeless veterans and their basic needs of life being met and being housed immediately. It takes a passionate village to help them and caring communities to remove the stigma and barriers that are used to discriminate against our homeless people. I need supporters, dedicated volunteers and advocates to open your hearts and pay it forward. These funding agencies need to be held accountable and as much as I don't like him, if I got to talk to the "Trump", I WILL!! My peers, the homeless veterans, our brothers and sisters deserve help from the country they put their lives on the line for, at the very least and given a chance to find a place to call home other than the cemetery. Thank you and may God bless, Veteran Connection!!

    Valerie Allen

Mrs. Valerie Allen is the President/Founder of Veteran Connection, Inc (47-5312462).  She is an avid supporter, advocate, activist and most of all, a veteran who once found herself homeless and overcame! And you would think that the many services available in our communities would assist all veterans. Not at all surprisingly now, the support of the country she swore to protect, defend and serve failed her and others still today.  The gaps in services (most are based off of income), constant prejudices, restrictions, bureaucracy and red-tape of social services and government agencies with huge administrative cost (only 10-15% goes to the actual cause, by the way), is the reason there are homeless people in general across our nation.

Valerie triumped in the end and graduated from Post University and went through this difficult process with newfound awareness and intentional commitment to helping others. This new-found energy caused her passion to flourish and she is dedicated to helping her peers and their families work through this difficult process of transition and sustainability.

We blessed to live in a developed nation, not a third world country; the governments and others need to actively care more about veterans, and not treat them as mentally challenged or drug addicted problems or discarded goods.  The veterans who lost their lives, families, and some; their minds are the very reason why we are enjoying our freedom today.  It's our time now to serve them and really mean, "Thanks For Your Service" and they desperately need our help now.  What will you do to make a difference, the choice is yours to help now or resist change and keep supporting charities that are already established, what if it were you in our heroes shoes?

Join our teams with your generous donation, time, volunteer today or even start your own branch of Veteran Connection! Veteran Connection is the forming organization of this wonderful event.
