Ghosts of the Grand is Salem’s premier immersive haunted experience, drawing over 1,500 brave souls during its 2024 debut and quickly cultivating a devoted fanbase of 1,700+ followers. Set inside the historic Grand Theatre, our production blends live performance, eerie storytelling, and theatrical scares into an unforgettable journey that keeps audiences coming back and chatting long after the final scare.

The Salem Reporter praised the event as “likely the most fun I had on the job as a reporter in Salem in 2024”. Also adding that it was “both hilarious and unsettling,” noting that “the actors and ambiance were incredibly well done” . Chelsea Opfer

Hi there!

I'm Chelsea Opfer the owner and creator of Ghosts of the Grand, Salem Haunt Club, and Murders Incorporated. As you can tell from my busisses, I've always loved Halloween and all things spooky. I'm also extremely passionate about uplifting the local community and helping new business owners learn and grow.

I began my journey in 2018 after writing a Murder Mystery Party for my friends. It was an absolute blast and I decided to sell and package the idea as a downloadable PDF on Etsy. In 2020, Murders Inc had grown to the point where I was able to quit my full time sales job and focus full time on business ownership. Currently, Murders Inc has over 20,000 sales worldwide, 3000+ 5-star reviews, and a successful Kickstarter campaign which led to the ability to mass produce my best selling kit - Murder at the Speakeasy - and release it into stores. 

Over the past few years, I have begun venturing into event planning and have found that my passion for writing and storytelling creates unique, one-of-a-kind events that keeps my clientele wanting more. Ghosts of the Grand is my current passion project and, as we head into our second year, I'm so excited to see how it grows. Ghosts is not just a haunted house - it's an immersive horror experience that combines both theatre, story, and real life choices that guests need to make, achieving complete submersion in to the plot.
