    Gabs Away was founded by Gabriela in the spring of 2018. A meal sharing series created to build a community of social conscious influencers who are not afraid to discuss the things that matter outside of social media. 

    Gabs Away will be hosting its next event of this exciting and promising new series on september 28th. This will be an intimate experience of 20 individuals who will participate in a moderated conversation over a catered meal, where we will be discussing the diaspora. What does it mean to ‘leave’ home? What traditions do we bring with us? Is it possible to lose one’s national identity?

     

    Why should you sponsor?

    In 2019 businesses can no longer afford to ignore the social and political climate – people are looking for brands that engage with the community in a positive way, and are interested in providing more than just a product, they want to know they are part of something more. My events provide a space for reflection that is rare outside of academic circles, and as someone who has established herself as socially conscious I am trusted to work with companies that share similar values.

    By bringing people together over unique culinary experiences across the city to share their stories and ideas it not only creates natural bonds, and encourages interaction, but also gives visibility to businesses.

    This dinner will be hosted in AticNou a multidisciplinary creative space in Barcelona that hosts a variety of events with an established audience of its own. I am also pleased to share that I am collaborating with Mescladís to provide a unique menu for this event, Mescladís is a non profit organization that provides professional kitchen training to undocumented individuals in the city.

    The audience of Gabs Away is curious and open minded people who seek to connect with others in the city, and engage in new experiences. They are mostly expatriates who are young professionals and entrepreneurs, and are influencers in their own communities. 78% of my audience is composed of people between 23 and 35 years old, 64% of them women, they are also majorly native English speaking people, though many are multilingual . The intimate experience guarantees a 100% engagement with the brand. 


    Gabriela Nivela

    Gabriela is of Ecuadorian origin and currently resides in Barcelona, she grew up in Canada and Madrid, Spain. She has worked in tourism for more than 5 years in Germany, the United States and Spain, speaks 4 languages, and uses her communication skills to give others a voice. With more than 3 years of event management and corporate sales experience she is looking to utilize her skills to create beautiful and insightful experiences. Gabriela is currently studying conference management and event protocol at the Ostelea School of Tourism and has been featured in several digital publications as a travel expert and community leader.
