About the event
In the recent years, our club has seen significant success across the board success. As a result, the demand for resources and facilities increases. In 2018 our women's National League program won the National Championship for the first time in club history. In 2019, our mens National League program won the National Championship and our women claimed the bronze. Our u/18 men and u/16 women also won their respective national championships. We also have 4 Olympic representatives in our National League programs.
With all these amazing accolades, comes interest from across the country and overseas. Players from overseas want to come and be apart of the culture and program we have built. However, we are struggling to keep up with the cost of bringing these players across. These international players also coach our juniors, help out at club events, and coach at the local schools to give back to the junior members of the club and ensure the clubs success continues.
In addition, our junior and senior teams travel regularly across the country and the world. Our senior women have an upcoming tour to Japan that is a fundraising focus for us at the moment. However, all our teams travel each season which is at their own cost aside from the high fees they already pay.
We have not done much fundraising in the past, however with so much interest coming into the club we really need to be able to keep up with the costs. This event will help us roll out a new fundraising structure and ensure we can continue to raise funds for travel, uniforms, pool hire, fees etc so the burden is not so much on the athletes.
The fundraising evening will be held at a function room at the university, with dinner, drinks and fundraising activities throughout the night. If there is anything you can do to assist us with this process in terms of donations or sponsorship for our upcoming fundraiser or beyond, it would be appreciated immensely.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further questions.
Fundraising Executive - UNSW Wests Water Polo club
Why should you sponsor?
We are essentially a family driven club and that culture is spread throughout all of our members. With a club of over 400 athletes of all ages from 12 - 70, you would be reaching a very wide audience. All of which have families and friends heavily involved in the clubs movements as well.
On top of this, we have a number of extremely talented athletes at our club. UNSW Wests is home to 4 Olympians, and numerous Senior and Junior National team players.
Most importantly, we are a community that values the hard work and dedication it has taken to get us to where we are now. We want to broaden our horizons and be the best we can be however unfortunately the only thing limiting us from moving forward on a united front is the funding.
My name is Daisy Carter, I am a current member of the UNSW Wests National League team and a member of the senior women's Australian Squad for Water Polo.
I have been at UNSW Wests Water Polo club for over 10 years, and my brothers and sisters even longer before me. I have always been incredibly proud to be a part of this club and want to see the success continue beyond my playing time.
I have recently completed a Diploma in event management at TAFE NSW, combining this with my passion and drive to see this club succeed I am doing my best to help us move forward financially and in turn move forward and continue making history as a club.
