Fun Day & Dog Show, Saturday 16th July 10am - 4pm

This is a fabulous day aimed at residents, relatives and the local community to promote the positive aspects of our dementia home.

The day will consist of the following:

10hr Dance-a-thon - a number of staff will undertake a sponsored 10hr dance-a-thon starting at 8am and finishing at 6pm

Childrens Fancy Dress Competition

Childrens Entertainer

Childrens Rides and Stalls

Craft Stalls

Cake Competition

Dog Show

Tug of War Competition for local pubs and also a 2nd Tug of War Competion for Care Home Staff to promote links between local care homes

Why should you sponsor?

This is an amazing oppurtunity to raise money for a very special charity.  Chiltern VIew specialises in advance dementia and supports 29 individual people who need a variety of ways to help them remember their lives both past and present.

Our residents are wonderful and individual and have experienced a great deal of amazing events in their lives, with encouragement and appropriate prompting by the use of events, activities, materials and equipment we can help them remember.  Our pleasure is seeing the joy on their faces as they recall something they had stored in their memory and had not been able to access in a long time.

The other day we invited a newly recruited soldier into their home to chat with them, the joy it brought to those who had been a soldier in their young days was immense.  Another time we bought in an entertainer who sang songs through the decades.  It was amazing to see people who sometimes show no re-actions to their environment for days to be seen to be tapping their feet and smiling as they remembered the songs they heard.

Most of these events (with the exception of the young soldier) cost a considerable amount of money but it is well worth the cost when you see the faces of those we care for.

At present we are fundraising for a variety of things including an old fashioned red telephone box as requested by a number of our residents.

Your sponsorship could help us provide a number of items to enhance the lives of people who have played their part in our society for many years and now need people to play a part in their lives.

Brendoncare Chiltern View Care Home is part of a larger charity known as Brendoncare Foundation but are charged with undertaking our own fundraising.  Registered Charity No: 326508

As you are possibly aware Dementia is a cruel disease, robbing people of their independence and changing individuals.  At Brendoncare Chiltern View we care for people with advanced dementia within a purpose built building, which becomes a warm and friendly home for 29 people.  Residents and relatives have the opportunity to move freely within their environment including beautiful landscaped gardens, with views to the valley and rolling fields beyond.

This year we are celebrating 25 years of supporting people with dementia and plan to undertake a number of events and activities to raise funds in aid of Chiltern View Care Home.   Our aim is to provide events, activities, equipment and materials that promote a positive lifestyle and memory maker for our residents.
