"From Trauma to Triumph",

Houston, Texas, United States Houston, Texas, United States

  • About the event

Bringing trauma healing through a community perspective of lived experiences in triumph!

    Why should you sponsor?

We are hoping our sponsors not only contribute but become part of the conversation on how we can heal our community. Collaboration is key, and we can not do this without your support. It takes all of us and together we can truly heal the generational traumas that continue to plague our society.

    Jada Andrews-Sullivan

Jada Lanise Andrews-Sullivan was born and raised on the east side of San Antonio, I am proud to live, work, and dream in District 2. I was raised by a strong, God-fearing mother, and with her help, I was fortunate as a single mother to raise four children in the district I call my home. I am a product of SAISD schools - Gates Elementary, Martin Luther King, Jr Middle, and Sam Houston High.

While furthering my education at the University of Texas at Austin, I enlisted in the United States Army, serving my country proudly and receiving an honorable discharge in 1997. Rooted in the heart of the district, I launched my business in 2006 and it continues to this day.

SMALL BUSINESS, SOCIAL JUSTICE, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, YOUTH LEADERSHIP, EQUITY ADVOCATE

District 2 is the heart of San Antonio and fills the city with vibrant arts and entertainment such as the Witte Museum, Alamodome, Stock Show and Rodeo, and the San Antonio Spurs. District 2 is rising to the challenges facing underserved areas such as aging public infrastructure and economic segregation, advocating for workforce development services, and enabling business creation and support for existing businesses. District 2 works together to revitalize neighborhoods as well as historic and cultural places, to help to leverage the people of District 2.

As a resident, mother, and representative of City Council District 2, I am humbled to utilize my experience in advocating for equity within challenged platforms. We continue to focus on safe and clean streets, neighborhoods, schools, and establishments to showcase our great and unique district. I am a dedicated advocate for a district with thriving living and working environments by using equitable investments, which I strongly believe will continue our work in transforming District 2. I trust “Equity” is needed to close the gaps between poverty and economic segregation. Together, we can continue to create community cohesiveness and focus on education to develop a safe and thriving urban environment. I believe through social justice changes, small business investment, youth leadership, and entrepreneur training, we can launch our District 2 into prosperity for your city, the City of San Antonio.

    Respectfully,

    Jada L. Andrews-Sullivan

    Former Councilwoman District 2

    City of San Antonio
