About the event
The Festival of Globe (FOG) Film Fest was launched in 2014 as a platform to encourage and promote independent filmmakers and actors from all around the world and recognize their work.
In the last 5 years, the film festival has screened short films, features and documentaries from the US, India, Canada, Nepal, Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, France, Russia, Poland, Sweden, UK, Iran, Argentina and other countries. In 2015, we also had a big screenplay investor pitch session.
The festival is usually centered around a theme. Last year, it was “Save the Planet”. In 2016, it was “Empowering Youth against Sex Crimes” and in 2017, it was “Celebrate Diversity”. Every year, we host a panel discussion on social issues such as women empowerment.
Some of the films screened at our festival have gone on to feature on Amazon Prime and Netflix. We are very proud of the thought-provoking films that we have screened that inform, inspire and expand the imagination of viewers.
Why should you sponsor?
Film festivals are a rare platform to bring creativity and diverse international stories to the public. Sure, we have streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Roku, Hulu and others. However, discerning viewers have only so much time to browse and find those rare gems of storytelling that may otherwise go unnoticed. Blockbuster movies, hit TV shows and the like also consume a sizable chunk of one’s entertainment time.
A good festival does the job of curating different types of films with their synopses all neatly packaged for the viewer. And the viewers get to interact with the filmmakers. They actually get inspired to realize their own dreams of making and acting in movies, too. We have many such examples at our festival.
The San Francisco Bay Area has a plethora of film schools, acting workshops and theater groups, all prime ground for nurturing cinematic talent.
Finally, it is all about community – nothing beats the real experience of sharing a public space with other people, the energy of people laughing, crying, feeling together. That is why we go to the movies.
As an advertiser, you will have the opportunity to reach an audience ranging in age from the 20s to the 70s, male and female. Located in Silicon Valley, our festival attracts professionals from different fields such as IT, medicine and business.
FIA, FOG’s parent organization, has been organizing fairs and a parade for the last 26 years, so you will be associating with a respected, established group. We have a sister organization in India Post, the weekly newspaper, which has been in publication for the last 26 years as well. You can spread awareness of your brand among hundreds of educated, well-heeled professionals and be known as a patron of arts and creativity.
Lakshmi IyerThe Festival of Globe (FOG), Silicon Valley - https://www.fogsv.org - is under the umbrella of FIA (Federation of Indian Association of Northern California), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. FIA launched the first India Day Parade and ‘mela’ in 1993 in Fremont, CA to commemorate India’s Independence Day in August. It had an attendance of about 5,000 people. Today, the ‘mela’ and Parade attract thousands of people each year. Many Bollywood celebrities have led the Parade as Grand Marshals.
Besides the August fair, FIA organizes other fairs in the spring for Holi (the Indian Festival of Colors) and Diwali (the Indian Festival of Lights). We also run charitable activities such as the free Health Fairs during our August and Diwali ‘melas’ (free checkups and screenings are offered to the needy and uninsured) and our annual Holiday Toy Drive for juvenile delinquents and children of incarcerated people.
In 2014, our Founder and Convener, Dr. Romesh Japra – a respected cardiologist who has been practicing in the Bay Area for a few decades – expanded his vision of the Festival of India to the Festival of Globe (FOG), launching the first international FOG Film Fest and Awards show. We have hosted different events such as Summits on Technology, Healthcare, Media and the Future of Entertainment and a Wellness Conference and Expo (https://www.wellnesspost.org).
We also have a sister organization in India Post – the weekly newspaper bringing news from both India and the United States that has been in publication for the last 26 years.
