Gopali Youth Welfare Society is a non-government society, registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961, Reg No: S/IL/23893, and working towards bringing the youth throughout the nation into the frontline of social problem solving. During the past years, it has worked on uplifting the living standards of the people in and around Gopali village, through free education, social awareness campaigns and vocational training by employing the student community of IIT Kharagpur from different backgrounds. 

 

GYWS started in 2002 with just 2 socially motivated people desiring to bring some change and now has over 150 active members and a budget of 30 lakh INR per annum, impacting and improving lifestyles of over 1000 families.

 

Our flagship initiative, Jagriti Vidya Mandir, an English medium school, provides free of cost education to 250 underprivileged students. Innovative Education Council was set up with an aim to improve the quality of education imparted in our school. Soon, we started looking at ways to scale this program and cater to a larger audience by establishing the initiative RISE (Reform and Innovate School Education). LiGHT, our expansion initiative was set up with an aim to build student run centres and provide them with a platform to work for the weaker section of society.
