The European Wheelchair Basketball Championship is the main wheelchair basketball competition contested biennially by national teams governed by IWBF Europe, the European zone within the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation. Organised by British Wheelchair Basketball in partnership with IWBF and the University of Worcester, and supported by the UK National Lottery, the Championships are part of UK Sport’s Gold Event Series and Road to Rio programme.
The European Championship is also a qualifying tournament for the Paralympic Games in Rio in 2016. From this 2015 event in Worcester, just five men's teams and four women's teams will qualify for Brazil.
The 2013 competition was held in Frankfurt, Germany. The men’s Championship was won by Great Britain, and the women’s by The Netherlands.
The Championships take place over 10 days between 28th August and 6th September 2015, with both men’s and women’s teams playing and competing each day.

The Women’s Championship is run firstly as a ‘round-robin’ with each nation playing once against each other. Based on their respective table positions after this stage, this is followed by Semi Finals, Classification games and a Final game to determine medals and the overall winner of the Championship. The women’s competing nations are France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain and Turkey.
The top four nations will qualify for the Rio 2016 Paralympics.
Teams in the Men’s Championships are spilt into 2 Pool Groups.

Each nation plays once against every other team in their respective group. The top four teams in each Pool then go through to compete in the Quarter Finals, Semi Finals, and the Final to determine medals and the overall winner of the Championship. Classification games also take place to determine other positions.
The top five nations will qualify for the Rio 2016 Paralympics.
