Did you know that here in Santa Clara County—one of the wealthiest counties in America—1 in 4 individuals is at risk for hunger? That’s just not right!
The students from San Jose State University’s Nutrition and Food Science Club want to do something to change that. We have decided to partner up with Martha’s Kitchen to invite you to our Empty Bowls event. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of hunger in our community. All the proceeds from this event will go directly to Martha’s Kitchen. In order to achieve maximal success, we need support from the entire community.
Martha's Kitchen is a non-profit organization. Their mission is to “Feed the hungry with dignity, no questions asked”. Martha’s Kitchen prepares over 300,000 meals a year. These meals are given to their 30 partner organizations, which in turn serve them to those in need. Meals are served in Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Monterey and Merced County. Having your participation and donations at the “Empty Bowls” event will help raise awareness and help provide meals to help Martha’s Kitchen prepare ONE MILLION meals in the next three years. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
