Durham Dragon Boat Festival
The Durham Dragon Boat Festival will take place on Sunday 10th April 2016. This is the perfect event for anyone looking to raise money for a charitable cause or for a team building activity.
Dragon boating is a fun, fast growing sport, ideal for people of all levels of fitness. A dragon boat is of a traditional Chinese design, typically decorated to resemble a dragon, propelled with paddles by a large crew and used for racing. No experience dragon boating is necessary to participate in this event.
Each Dragon Boat features a team of 16 racing along the River Wear.
All teams will be guaranteed at least 3 races, with the event holding heats, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final to determine the ultimate winner who will receive a trophy. This is not only a great opportunity for team building, but also to meet new people with a day full of fun.
Benefits of Sponsorship-
- The race will consist of 8 teams of 15 participants creating a minimum attendance of 120 individuals, with the hope of gaining further attendees from spectators.
- The event will be covered by a journalist from the Northern Echo with the potential for an article and increased brand awareness.
- The brand will also feature extensively within an advertising campaign prior and post event (i.e. leaflets, social media).

All profit from the event will go to the local charity Heel and Toe, who provide therapy to children with Cerebral Palsy and other physical disabilities. Some of the therapy provided includes specialist Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language services for children. Please view the video above to see the great support that the charity provides.
Teams will be given a health and safety briefing before the event and each boat will be accompanied by a trained club member.
Food will be available to purchase on the day from vendors including a hog roast and paella. Drinks can be purchased from the rowing club bar. Toilet/changing rooms/parking will also be able to be used at the rowing club. There will also be a social event after the day of rowing which will feature a presentation to the winning team and is a time to mingle with your new friends. Live music from local musicians will be entertaining throughout the day.
For an entry fee of only £10 per person, this event is great value for money, to enjoy not only an exciting day out but to also support a local charity.
