  • About the event

The event is a collaboration between Bred in the Bone Theatre Company and Theatre de Menilmontant, one of Paris’ oldest fringe venues.

We are creating a festival of new work direct from the UK at the centre of a multicultural part of the city of Paris, where an important part of the Anglophone and anglophile population of Paris gathers to celebrate the English language.

This will be the second festival of it’s kind curated by us at Bred in the Bone and nurtured by Theatre de Menilmontant over seven days.

We will programme 10 different British Companies and present new commissioned work by 4 of them. We will also show our Trilogy of "She is Shakespeare" plays:  'She is Hamlet', 'She is Macbeth' and She is Lear, as our celebration of the Shakespeare year.

    Why should you sponsor?

Exposure in Paris, the UK and the World:

50 Artists involved in the activity

150 Participants involved in our workshops

4500 Live Audience Members watching the performance in Paris

2000 Broadcast and Online Audience Members viewing around the World.
(all shows will be archived and uploaded to our website and YouTube with further marketing and we will be live streaming elements of our festival)

    Total Exposure: 6700

Bred in the Bone was founded by Artistic Director: Matthieu Leloup Bellon in 2009, however from 2006 Matthieu had founded the company in Poland under the name ‘Nierealne'.

We are a gathering of theatre makers who reside in the United Kingdom, and were born all over the world. The international nature of the company is fundamental to its identity, from which we seek to enlarge our understanding of each other’s culture, looking for what is common in who we are.

Our influences are as varied as Peter Brook, Annie Castledine, Complicite, Jerzy Grotowski, Theatre du Soleil, or Anatoli Vassiliev, to name only a few, who’s work is inspirational to us.

We do not intend to develop a particular type of aesthetic or form of theatre but rather use within our productions a dialogue between our theatrical cultures best suited for the moment we are exploring.

    Our recent work includes:

She is Hamlet - RBC Symposium,  Kent, April 2016
