    In the early 1890s, four African-American pioneer families—the Douglass, Allen, Lee, and Scott families—participated in the historic land runs in Oklahoma territory to lay down their roots and establish their tribes. Almost 130 years later, over 200 descendants of these pioneers are gathering in the Enid, Oklahoma, region for a once in a lifetime pilgrimage, back to the roots and land of our forefathers!

    PHILIP MATTHEWS

    I am Philip Matthews, representative for the Douglas-Allen-Lee-Scott families. Professionally, I am a retired computer programmer, math teacher, religious writer, and ordained minister. I am married to Segatha Douglas, whose name has been passed down through the family for 6 generations! We have spent the last 45 years specializing in family, having 7 kids and 18 grandkids of our own and keeping at least 40 other kids through foster care or other arrangements through our private boarding schools during that time. I am also the CEO of Transformations Institute for Leadership Training (TILT), a new 501(c)(3) organization, providing academic, entrepreneurial, and spiritual/emotional mentoring to at-risk youth in Los Angeles County. These involvements have provided me with the experience and expertise necessary to help lead this homecoming family reunion.
