About the event

This event is a our 2nd Annual Family Conference for a ultra rare genetic syndrome called DHX30.  Our first conference we had in 2019.  Families had come from Mexico, Canada, and all over the United States.  

Step into the heart of our second DHX30 Family Conference.  May 1-2 2024, where families and caregivers affected by the rare genetic disorder DHX30 gather for a transformative experience. Hosted with warmth and care at the Great Wolf Lodge, this event promises more than just insights and connections—it's a heartfelt journey. With fewer than 100 diagnosed cases worldwide, we share our stories, delve into groundbreaking DHX30 research, and bask in the family-friendly amenities the Great Wolf Lodge has to offer. Join us in creating memories, forging connections, and amplifying the voice of the DHX30 community.

Kathleen Zimmerman

My name is Kathleen Zimmerman.  I am both a special needs mom who has a child with DHX30 as well as a healthcare professional.  I am on the board of our DHX30 non profit, 501c3.  We are looking to fully fund our 2nd family conference. I have spent my entire life working with the disability community and helping those in need.  I am now asking for help.  We first started out as a small facebook group and a couple parents decided to plan and run a conference in 2019.  We had two news stations that covered our event.  Please see the links above.

This conference is crucial to so many to find a support system that understands what they are going through.  These children have severe motor delays, severe motor impairment, and absent speech.  This event is truly life changing to see other children that are just like them.  There is such value in sameness.
