About the event
Girl Scouts of the Tall Pines Service Unit is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls of all ages and serves the girls in Madison County and Northeast Jackson. The organization seeks to help girls and young women build character, confidence, and courage. Girls develop important life skills, discover themselves, and make a difference in the world around them. Through engaging programs and activities, Girl Scouts help today's girls become tomorrow's leaders.
Your support will provide programming opportunities for girls to develop cultural awareness, community service and to become more environmentally aware. We are also working towards providing scholarships for girls who earn Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards. These are our highest awards for Junior, Cadette, and Senior/Ambassador Girl Scouts. The gold award is equivalent to the Eagle Scout in Boy Scouting and is Girl Scouts’ highest honor.
Desserts First! is a community event to celebrate the world’s largest financial literacy program for girls, their own Girl Scout Cookie business. The event will be held during National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend, on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 7:00 - 9:30 pm at the Jackson Yacht Club in Ridgeland, MS. This year’s featured cookie is Thin Mint. We have asked local chefs to create original desserts using Thin Mints as an essential ingredient. Participants will have a chance to voice their opinion and the winning chef will be crowned the Desserts First! champion.
