About the event
I am a student of Conestoga College currently enrolled in the Event Management Graduate program. For one of my courses, we, in teams, must plan and execute an event this semester.
My team is currently organizing a "Dance through the Decades" 12 hour dance marathon which is a fundraising event for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. The event details are still being decided, but tentatively, we are looking to hold this event on a Saturday in March (preferably the 21st or 28th) from 9:00am-9:00pm. For our event, couples will register beforehand and then collect pledge money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Then on the day of the event, the couples will come to our venue, hand in their pledge money, pay a registration fee, and begin dancing. The idea of this event is that couples have to remain upright and moving while the music is playing. The couple who lasts the longest will win a grand prize (either 50% of the entry fees or a tangible prize).
We are currently trying to secure a sponsor who will partner with us to make this event feasible. The school is not providing us with any money for this event, so it must all come out of our own pockets. We are looking for a sponsor to partner with us in order that we will be able to pay for the venue and the food. We really would like a sponsor to help us with this event so that it can go forward and so that we can raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. It is such a great cause!
