Dear Friend, As the Board President, I take pleasure in introducing to you Culture Shock® Washington, D.C., the area’s only501(c)(3) non-profit Hip Hop dance organization.Culture Shock D.C. has served the dance community in the D.C. area since 2002.Since then we continue to conduct innovative performances, develop future artists, and engagethe local community by inspiring them through the power and beauty of Hip Hop dance.

Culture Shock D.C. is part of the Culture Shock Dance Troupe, Inc. network, which has organizations throughout theU.S. and Canada. Culture Shock®, Washington, D.C. was founded by Margareta Chughtai and Brian Resurreccionand since has expanded to enroll over 150 talented dancers, ages 5 through over 25, from diverse backgrounds.

To fulfill our mission of engaging the D.C. community through the art of Hip Hop dance, I am thrilled to announcethat Culture Shock D.C. will be hosting the 2015 East Coast Dance Competition (ECDC) on December 5th at theCramton Auditorium.It is the largest Hip Hop dance competition on the east coast hosted by a non-profitorganization.CSDC will host some of the best local, national, and international dance troupes to perform in frontof a panel of distinguished judges.ECDC traditionally draws a cast of 300 dancers and an audience of 1,200 community members, dancers, and friends of various backgrounds, ages, races, and ethnicities. Additionally, thisyear’s concert will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the competition and we couldn’t be more excited.

Culture Shock D.C. is committed to inspiring and empowering members of the community, especially youth, toachieve artistic and personal excellence. As a non-profit organization hosting the ECDC concert, we invite you toshare in this commitment with a tax-deductible monetary, goods, and/or service donation.
