About the event
VATSIM stands for Virtual Air Traffic Simulation Network. We are an online hobby organisation of over 70,000 active users who aim to simulate as-real-as-it-gets aviation operating procedures on our servers. During peak hours there are over 1,000 members logged on at any one time.
VATSIM is run entirely by volunteers.
Once roughly every three years, we host a global convention for the network in a major global hub city. The last convention, in 2014, was hosted in Vienna and was a great success.
The purpose of the event is to bring our members from around the world together in one space (this year we are being hosted at the De Vere Holborn Bars venue in central London) for a weekend of engaging talks, panels and workshops based on our hobby and the future of flight simulation development.
We currently have 69 confirmed bookings with tickets still on sale.
The website for the event is connexion.vatsim.net.
VATSIM runs as a not-for-profit organisation so relies heavily on sponsorship to run events like this. We have had great partnerships in the past and hope to build on this.
Why should you sponsor?
This event will bring together aviation enthusiasts from all over the world in one place, and we have a great amount of flexibility in how we present promotional materials to our attendees from our sponsors.
Our attendees generally have a high level of disposable income and many are fairly young and willing to try new things. Many are professionals in various sectors who have aviation as a hobby on the side.
If you sponsor our event, we would tailor a package for you to give your business maximum visibility to our attendees. We would feature your logo and a short message on our materials at the venue, and would verbally promote your business at appropriate times during the convention.
We are also hosting a BBQ on the Saturday night at a nearby hotel, which creates opportunities of sponsorship for food and drink in return for visiblity of your business.
We look forward to hearing from you.
I am a professional working in the railway sector. I have been a volunteer at VATSIM for 11 years, and for the past three years have sat as a Governor on their Board, responsible for Marketing and Communications.
