Community Event: "You Are Here",

About the event

“You Are Here” is a student-organized event that will be held at Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School, May 12th, 2018. Presenters will speak to an audience of around 150, consisting mostly of Lincoln-Sudbury students and members of the LS Community. The presenters will be filmed by members of the LSTV Club so that your talk can be shared online as well. The theme of our event this year is “You Are Here”. It focuses on finding one’s place and purpose in their community. Speakers, workshops, and activities will change one’s perspective on everything they thought they knew about their own community and what “community” means, through the exploration of the diversity and the collaboration of students and others. This is a topic about which our group truly thinks you can successfully share your experience, your expertise and, most importantly, your ideas.

Why should you sponsor?

This event pushes the Lincoln and Sudbury students and community members to broaden their horizons regarding culture and getting involved in one's community. A variety of speakers and workshop leaders will introduce our audience to a wide array of activities and will lead them to getting more involved in their community and surroundings.

I am currently a Senior at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School and have always been involved in getting people involved in their community and become more aware of cultural differences as well as appreciating these. This event, "You Are Here" is being organized by myself and 3 other students at my high school, and our advisor is a staff member in the building. Any money that is left-over from the event will be donated to charities in sponsors' and/or speakers' names, so this event is not for profit. We are simply trying to have our community members appreciate diversity as well as community involvement.
