Our inaugural Comic Con in May 2018 attracted the crème de la crème of comic book artists from all over the world, including Walt Simonson, Louise Simonson, Rafael Albuquerque, Frank Quitely and Ben Templesmith to name just a few. As well as celebrity guests from Harry Potter, Red Dwarf and Game of Thrones. We hosted traders from the breadth of the UK, Europe as well as a few from the US. Our main stage was the central hub of our now renowned Cosplay competitions and we had cutting edge VR experiences and demos, retro and board gaming and sci-fi and FX exhibitions. At our core, we are an art and creative led Con and proud of it!

“#PortsmouthComicCon has been a blast. One of the very best cons I've ever been to, blending the passion and comics focus of Thought Bubble with the family friendliness and party atmosphere of Dunfermline. I can't recommend it highly enough for next year. This one is special.”

In 2018, we partnered with Tripwire Magazine, were endorsed by IDW Publishing and Image Comics and were sponsored by Forbidden Planet International, Prospero Teaching and Progression Display and Signage. We are currently featured in The List’s top 10 Comic Cons of 2018.

For 2019, with have partnered not only with Tripwire but also the University of Portsmouth and GoGeek Events who celebrate inclusion and champion self-confidence and creative expression. Current sponsors include Victorious Festival and Novatech.

“What an amazing weekend at @PComicCon Without doubt this will become one of the biggest Comic Cons in the U.K. Can’t wait until next years!!”

    Why should you sponsor?

You will get recognition as a benefactor and supporter of one of our major in-house events and get exposure to a diverse demographic with 8,000 visitors predicted over 2 days!

In the lead up to the event you will have branding presence across the south coast and exposure to our:

    1.3 million unique website users

    40,000+ database subscribers

    15,000+ social media followers

    Over 1/4 million Guildhall users

Plus our commitment to comic, manga and anime stems from our roots as an organisation. We are one of the leading arts charities on the south coast and all money from our in-house events, like Comic Con, go straight back into our programme to benefit our community. 2/3rds of children in our ward live in poverty and we engage those in need by delivering inspirational workshops, offer apprenticeships and educational opportunities, as well as community events and outreach programmes designed to support our local schools by delivering the learning opportunities they are unable to.

So as well as intense branding and marketing opportunities you will also be supporting our event and benefiting our community.

This is a fantastic chance to make a real impact on the south coast and the city itself and enjoy a very hands on experience with our sponsorship manager Katherine who will tweak and tailor any package to suit your messaging and brand requirements.

    Katherine Scott

I am Katherine Scott the Commerical Manager and Sponsorship Manager for the Portsmouth Guildhall (operated by the Portsmouth Cultural Trust, a registered charity). I have a background in corporate relationship building and management and high end customer service. I used to be ASM for the UK's largest commercial art gallery group and have been with the Portsmouth Guildhall for 10 months. In my time here I am delighted to say I have cemented lasting and mutually beneficial sponsor relationships with a number of businesses and corporates across the south coast.

    2 sponsor testimonials:

    1. Corporate Sponsor of the Venue: “Solent Networks are pleased to support Portsmouth Cultural Trust and Portsmouth Guildhall as we believe it’s important for local businesses to support each other. With the Guildhall and the Trust in place, Portsmouth benefits greatly and the area would be a totally different place without it.  It’s great to be involved in something that provides entertainment, education and heritage and that hopefully will be enjoyed by generations to come. Not only local business owners but parents - we want (and actively encourage) our children to enjoy music and the arts, so showing our support for the Trust is a natural thing to do. We also enjoy the benefits it brings! One of which is talking with Katherine Scott, the Commercial Manager who, whether it be over coffee or just via email, is always lovely to work and chat with, and is super efficient at what she does.” - Sarah Khambay, Commercial Manager, Solent Networks

    2. Sponsor of Comic Con 2018: “Progression has tried various forms of advertising over the years, some has been effective, others not so much.
When we were approached by Katherine about sponsoring “Comic Con” we jumped at the chance. This appealed to us because we would have a large audience in one place and over an entire weekend. Being a comic convention, it meant we would have an endless supply of characters to have fun with to help us showcase our work. From life size cut outs you could have your photo taken with, to self adhesive vinyls of your favourite super hero, as well as Tardis wrapped lift doors, it gave us a great opportunity for potential customers to see our work up close and personal. Unlike other forms of advertising, potential customers can see something tangible as opposed to images and text on an email or website. Comic Con really was a great success for Progression and we look forward to working with Katherine and the team in the future.”
    - Jonathan Akers, Production Director
