About the event
The College Book tour will offer a safe space for all students of HBCU and other colleges in New York, Atlanta, and Texas. Our overall goal is to identify those that are not willing to admit their struggles with mental health in a non-therapeutic setting. Dr. Sharmee Pratt opens up with her personal stories about mental health as well as her victory, through her book 8 Steps To Mental Wealth. Her goal is to reach those between the ages of 18-35 that are dealing with life stressors of school and work. We understand that everyone has stressors, but not everyone knows how to handle stressors well. There is more violence in schools and at the workplace, which we once deemed safe. Dr. Sharmee will teach skills how to overcome day to day stressors as well as traumatic experiences that may have happened. The tour will provide an intimate, safe space, books signing, there will be a Q&A session, and students will be able to schedule a one on one with Dr. Sharmee if needed. Dr. Sharmee media includes tv, magazines and mental health podcasts, including Dr. Caroline Leaf who is a cognitive neuroscientist and friend.
Why should you sponsor?
The tour has an audience that is from all walks of life. We have those who are teachers, students, potential actors, and business candidates. The book 8 Steps To Mental Wealth is designed to teach men and women how to develop skills to better address crises. Mental health is not based on your gender or ethnicity, but affects everyone. It is clear America is in one of the worst mental health crises to date. We are confident that we will provide tools and strategies that will change the mindsets of those we encounter. The book will teach the importance of mental, physical and spiritual well-being. We believe those are the topics that will help people examine their way of thinking. Dr. Sharmee is passionate about the healing process for those who suffered a traumatic experience. Many people are afraid to mention what they have experienced. The book will be a tool with recommendations for additional help if needed. Helping us get that message out is set to provide the necessary help to someone who may be hurting in silence. Your help can generate our message and provide help to someone in need. What we are seeing in our schools is an atrocity. Will you be part of the solution?
