“Code is Law Vs Code & Law” is an immersive event designed to explore the intriguing intersection between law, blockchain technology, and the burgeoning world of cryptocurrencies. Inspired by the popular catchphrase ‘Code is Law’, we aim to delve into the realms of regulation and legal frameworks concerning digital transactions, and the potential role of code in shaping our future societal interactions.
The event will open with a series of educational sessions designed to take
attendees through the intricacies of blockchain technology, cryptography, smart contracts, and the programming languages powering them. We will dissect complex issues like the nature of anonymity online, the fundamental regulation potential of code, and how values from our constitutional tradition can be embedded in the digital world.
The main arguments of Lawrence Lessig, the original proponent of the ‘Code is Law’ concept, will be discussed extensively. We will examine how code and law need to collaborate to effectively govern the internet, and consider the implications of a world where code might replace traditional law across many interactions.
As we navigate through the event, we will also consider how code regulates
transactions and dispute resolution in instances like credit card disputes, security deposit agreements, divorces, immigration cases and traffic violation appeals. We will ponder whether an automated governance structure can indeed change the nature of law online, and if so, what its limitations might be.
Highlighting the practicalities, we will host expert panels featuring developers, lawyers, and a renowned anthropology professor to offer a well-rounded perspective on the topic. These discussions will tackle key issues such as the regulation of NFTs, the balance between code and law, and the societal implications of ‘Code as Law.’
As a climax to the intellectually stimulating day, we will stage a lively Fireside Debate between developers and lawyers. This debate, built on the foundation of the day’s discussions, aims to provide a platform for open discourse on whether code is law, or simply a tool to assist it.
In conclusion, whether you’re a developer, lawyer, or simply a tech enthusiast, “Code is Law V Code & Law” offers a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of this complex issue and engage in a debate that could help shape the future of our digital society.
This event will be bringing both the developer and legal community in one place for the first time ever, to discuss the current tricky and challenging crypto and emerging technology landscape and how together we can help push forward productive discussion to help shape the regulatory narrative here in UK. We will be having a number of well-known legal firms at this event, including GunnerCooke (1st legal firm to create ICO framework for the UK) and CMS law (one of the biggest international law firms in UK and in blockchain since 2011/2012).
For sponsors, this event is an opportunity to connect with the professionals, key leaders and decision-makers involved in the UK's fast-moving regulatory landscape. UK MPs including Prime Minister Rishi Sunak have already touted the UK to quickly become the technology capital of the world and Code is Law v Code and Law brings together the voices that will affect the rapidly advancing regulation and policy in the country.
At Stacks London, we believe having crypto regulated under gambling regulations will put a limit on what this innovation can deliver to both the population of this country and the British economy.

This event will also provide every attendee with the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and form relationships that we at Stacks London feel will be beneficial for all parties.
The Code Is Law V Code & Law Conference is the opener to a yearly event series focusing on the ever-changing regulatory landscape in the UK and globally. Further to this, sponsorship helps to support the ongoing rollout of a Code Is Law forum where developers, regulators, lawyers and the public will be able to engage in direct discourse over upcoming and in-effect policies and consultations. Becoming a sponsor of this inaugural event puts you in the position of supporting this initiative from the jump.
We currently have one sponsor slot that we are offering to a keynote speaker. The support from the keynote speaker will help enrich the event and support the community.
Along with this, we have a number of speaking opportunities within the other sponsor packages.
The UK crypto industry deserves to have a strong voice and we want this event to be one such important data point to make this happen.
I have spent over 6+ years in the Cryptocurrency/Blockchain space, primarily as a consultant, I am pretty well recognised with an extensive network and working across a number of activities with many projects in the space.
I see myself as more of a visionary, builder, connector and thought leader, with much experience in crypto business development, marketing, copywriting, organisation and project management.
Much of my alternative experience comes from a lengthy technical and creative industry background, growing up around music, electronic engineering and computing, then going on to spending 3 years in VOIP Telecommunications and 15+ years in the music industry as a studio engineer, producer, artist, management advisor and engineer.
