About the event

As a proud ambassador for Beat, the UK’s leading charity supporting people with eating disorders, I will be promoting health and wellbeing during my journey, and also reach out to young women who struggle with anorexia and bulimia issues. I will be documenting the 7 Summits expeditions photographically and, upon completion of all climbs, will hold a special exhibition featuring images of the mountains from the expeditions.

London based professional sportswoman and award-winning fine art mountain photographer, Alexandra has set a challenge to climb the highest mountain on each continent in one year. If successful, Alexandra will join an elite club of summiteers and become the first Hungarian-born and youngest British woman to climb all seven mountains. Alexandra had her first taste of climbing mountains in March 2012 when she made a solo three-week trek in the Nepal Himalayas. The experience was life changing and inspired Alexandra to reach even greater heights by setting one of the biggest goals of her life so far – to climb the 7 Summits. After months of training and preparation, Alexandra tackled the first of the 7 Summits on 9 June 2014 as a very proud member of the first team to summit Russia’s Mt. Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe, from the difficult north side in pre-season. Less than six weeks later, on 17 July, Alexandra successfully climbed Mont Blanc solo, without a guide, team or support. She summited at 6.45am, reaching the top in just over four hours. She has also successfully summited Kilimanjaro on 11 September, second of her ‘7summits’. On the 6th of December 2014, Alexandra stood on the top of the highest point of Antarctica, Mt Vinson.
Training: “Cycling has always been my passion and found spinning an exceptionally good way to keep my legs fit for the mountains.” Riding regularly on a hybrid and attending 2-3 double spinning classes a week for two years Alex was ready for a new challenge, road cycling. She brought her first road bike in September 2014 and a week later she competed in the Legs of Steel coming best in her category for a non-club rider. Two weeks later, she was riding the Land’s End 100. “It’s a fantastic circle.. using cycling and spinning to train for the rest of the ‘7 summits’ including Everest, but soon mountaineering will play a huge part of my training for the IRONMAN.”Alexandra has signed up for L’etape du Tour and the 2015 IRONMAN 70.3 Zell am See-Kaprun, which will also host the IRONMAN World Championship the same weekend.
