Hello
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
We live in a cynical world and are constantly surrounded by negativity. I f like me you have had a fair start in life you will be able to move forward, grow and strive for the life you want.
This fair start will be different factors for each person, it may be you had a stable home life, community support, good role models an inspiring teacher or coach. These factors can have a massive effect on our childhood development and how we see ourselves as young adults. Imagine if you can growing up where you are moved from one home to another as you evade a bailiff, abusive parent, being brought up thinking you are worthless and worse being told you are, having poor role models around you offering you poor examples it could be drug abuse, alcoholism, violent behaviour. How long would it be before you withdrew in yourself losing your confidence, perhaps you rebel the chances are that you will seek solace in some medium of destructive behaviour. Sadly the second tale is one that happens all too often as impressionable at risk children repeat the same cyclic behaviour which they have seen their own family go through.
I would like to change that cycle and I believe it can be done through the power of sport. Not through the millions in sponsorship fees that a professional athlete might receive as a sign on bonus. I believe a child can gain a sense of self-worth, communication, self-discipline and the skills to deal with adversity and failure.
My ask is this can you please help support my Change for Glasgow event. The event is free for children to attend, the venue is waiving the hire fee and all of the speakers are coming along without being paid. I have also donated my time.
So what I need you to help with is stationery so the kids can write down goals, track progress.
Perhaps every kid has a smartphone on the hight street but we still have kids living in poverty.
Water, kids are drinking far too much sugar and far too much caffeine we need to get them back to drinking water and I believe we should start with the change in behaviour on the day of our event.
I have another list of things to ask for but some stationery and water would be a help.
