About the event

Maison Baldwin House is hosting it's 2nd Annual Celebrity Chopped event and this year's theme is good ol' fashioned BBQ! Using Traeger Grills and following the theme of the hit TV show- Chopped, local celebrities will go head-to-head in a cook-off for the ages as they are judged by culinary experts from the area who will crown a champion-- the one person who does not get CHOPPED! 

The evening is taking place at the Cornwall Civic Complex and will include a delectable BBQ style buffet, a silent auction, great entertainment by Radio Nova Band, and a photobooth to help you remember the night. To make this southern BBQ even more authentic, we'll also have a MECHANICAL BULL! Wear your jeans, your plaid, your cowboy boots and come as southern as you'd like.

By supporting our Celebrity Chopped BBQ Fundraiser, you're supporting Maison Baldwin House, the emergency crisis shelted for abused women and their children. We are the only shelter in the Cornwall area, and your support helps us to provide the necessities for our client, and to keep our doors open to those in need. 

While domestic violence and women's shelters aren't often a popular topic of discussion or attention, we are aiming to host a fun filled evening that will allow people to learn about what we do, how we help, and how they can help us do it. 

Danielle MacNeil

My name is Danielle MacNeil, and I am the Public Educator and Volunteer Coordinator for Maison Baldwin House, the women's crisis shelter in Cornwall, ON. One of the best parts of my job is being able to have creative freedom to hold these types of fun, themed fundraisers to help support our shelter, and to help bring awareness about what we do in the community. 
I choose to keep my presentations friendly and positive, most people know the circumstances that can lead a woman and her children to our doorstep. Dwelling on that can sometimes lose an audience. Instead I focus on what we do once we have a new client in house - how we help, how we empower her, how we support and encourage, and advocate for her. 

By keeping focused on the positive, I have noticed that we've been much more visible in the community, and have started to gain some much needed momentum and support. My job is my passion, and being able to truly make a difference means the world to me. I love coming up with new ideas and plans, and I hope you'll help us achieve them! Thank You!
