About the event

One Silver Lining will be hosting a conference for youth delegates from both groups across York Region on April 28th 2015. We're calling this conference CareCon, as we aim to provide a caring environment in which delegates can explore and discover just how valuable they truly are. CareCon will take place at the Microlinks Centre at 30 Vogell Road in Richmond Hill.

The conference will include inspirational and educational workshops about topics ranging from Health & Wellness, Self Awareness, Leadership and Gender Issues. CareCon will empower youth to gain the tools they need to combat the issues they face, while simultaneously giving them the chance to bond and establish relationships with teens who may be going through similar hardships.

The conference is open to youth within the York Region District School Board, with ages mainly ranging from 14-18 within grades 9 through 12. With an expected attendance of 150, CareCon will impact youth on a large scale, inspiring ideologies that students can implement within their own schools.

Many of the speakers at CareCon will be youth speakers, therefore One Silver Lining is offering students the opportunity to apply to our Student Speaker Competition, in which students with public speaking skills will be able to apply for the opportunity to share their story with their peers at CareCon. This competition will give youth with the opportunity to be heard and to be leaders within their community and their school.
