Buyel' embo,

Cofimvaba, Eastern Cape, South Africa Cofimvaba, Eastern Cape, South Africa

  • About the event

Ncora is a crime-ridden village with limited activities that keep young people busy and stimulated. As a result, some of them resort to destructive activities for stimulation them, such as alcohol abuse and crime. Sadly, the young kids who grow up exposed to these atrocities will grow up thinking that alcohol abuse and crime is the only route to take as there is limited positive role modelling from their older brothers and sisters.  Consequently, Buyel’embo has been established in order to keep the youth not only entertained, but well-informed and motivated to do well in life.
Buyel’embo is a youth development initiative which seeks to give the young people of the Ncora village an opportunity to spot, realise, cultivate and showcase their talents. We are creating a platform for them to invest their energy in activities that could benefit them and the society. Our mission is to help young people to live meaningful lives by using their talents constructively and stay away from self-destructive activities. We seek to expose young children to role positive models and activities that will encourage them strive to contribute positively to the well-being of the society when they grow up as well.
From the 19th to the 22nd of December 2016, will be hosting two events in Qitsi at Tshatshu and Ntabeni village. In these two events, young of people from various villages will be showcasing their talents through – sport, music, poetry, drama and many more.  The events will start from 10h00- 17h00.
We believe that these events will get young people together and unite them. This initiative is impactful in many ways: (1) after the schools have closed, there will be rehearsals to keep the young people occupied, as they will be rehearsing for the events; (2) and also, the skills acquired through the rehearsal process and the performances can help young people to lead meaningful lives and inspire others to do good as well. This initiative aims to bring back our humanity and unity, keeping it in mind that “it takes a village to raise a child”.
We are currently in need of finances for artists and stage bookings; we would therefore like you to assist us where you can as we know that you are concerned with youth development organisations and programmes.

Together, let us restore the dignity of our communities- keep and maintain humanity.

    Kind regards
    ALIZWA YAMILE
