This event is a celebration of burlesque, showcasing the best of rising star talent from in and around Essex. It is a non-competitive event, focused on inclusion, empowerment, fun and charity.
The idea came from a need for something other than competition - many events are not particularly local to Essex, don't welcome new performers or have a poor backstage reputation (which is incredibly off-putting for inexperienced dancers).
I wanted to create something for every-one - men and women - and choosing Walk the Walk as our charity was an easy, natural choice. Breasts are incredibly important to a burlesque dancer(!) and breast health is vital for every-one!! I wanted to create a forum where people could perform without risk of judgement or negativity and the audience could enjoy a wonderful show, with the chance to see something never-before performed (a real treat in the burlesque world!)
We should receive sponsorship because we're doing something good! Not only are we offering women a safe space to be themselves and to show their talents without fear of judgement, we're raising funds for an incredible organisation whose work is invaluable and has helped thousands of people.
I'm not running this event as a money making exercise, I'm doing it because I want to and because burlesque is my passion. I know a lot of the perfomers very well and they are very dear to me - I want to offer them a wonderful experience that they enjoy, treasure and hopefully want to repeat!
We want to raise as much money as we possibly can and get the best, biggest audience we can! Help from other people and organisations is just what we need!
Miss Bunty Beauford-Brown has left the comfort of The Manor and is coming to get you! Following her first deeply rewarding foray into the world of Burlesque, she is now expanding her empire and showcasing her ‘talents’ on new, exciting platforms!
When she isn’t performing as an Egyptian snake goddess or fierce alien, she is the producer and host of Bunty’s Burlesque Bonanza – non-competitive showcases of rising star talent built on a foundation of inclusivity, community and empowerment. Bunty uses these showcases to raise funds for Walk the Walk – uniting against breast cancer and helping them in their mission.
