Brighten the Night Gala and Live Auction,

Parker, Texas, United States Parker, Texas, United States

  • About the event

Carson's Crusaders Foundation's 7th Annual Brighten the Night Gala & Live Auction is being held on Thursday, September 27th.  Based on the success of last year’s event and the feedback we received from our sponsors and guests, we will again host our Sparkles and Spurs themed event at Cross Creek Ranch in Parker, TX.  Don your best cowboy hat, boots, denim and jewels and enjoy an evening filled with barbecue, beer, margaritas, great company, fun entertainment, and great auction items up for bid.

This year you will be entertained by comedian William Lee Martin, also known as Cowboy Bill.  William Lee Martin is one of the top-rated, most requested acts on Carnival Cruise Lines, performing live in front of 100,000 people in 2016.  He has hosted a one-hour comedy special on CMT and he is currently on a 25 city tour throughout the states and overseas.  He’s “middle aged, middle income, and when it comes to comedy, politics & life this married man - father of five and comedian is Living in the Middle” (also the name of his video blog published every Thursday on social media).  We are excited to have him as this year’s entertainer.

Can we count on your support at Brighten the Night 2018?  Our levels of sponsorship range from our Presenting Sponsor at $10,000 to a table sponsorship at $1,000.

    Why should you sponsor?

Carson’s Crusaders Foundation was established in memory of Carson Richardson, who lost his battle with Hepatoblastoma cancer in 2010 at the age of 7. The Foundation was founded by Carson Richardson’s parents, Ryan and Kimberly, and grandfather, George Richardson.

Through Carson’s three and half year battle with Hepatoblastoma, the Richardsons were blessed with financial, emotional, and spiritual support from friends and family. Their community embraced and supported them through the difficult journey. They soon realized that not all families were as fortunate. Their desire to help others led to the formation of Carson’s Crusaders Foundation.

Carson’s Crusaders Foundation was formed to provide assistance to families of children battling rare solid tumor cancers. Services include travel assistance, sibling support, educational programs, and financial support to those families affected.

Carson’s Crusaders received its 501(c)(3) nonprofit recognition in October 2011. The Board and its volunteers are currently involved in fund raising projects to support planned outreach activities.

To date, the Foundation has provided over $275,000 in gas cards to families in need and over $150,000 to sibling support programs.

    Sharon Bothelo

My name is Sharon Bothelo and I am the Executive Director of Carson's Crusaders Foundation.  I began my journey with Carson's Crusaders approximately 4 years ago as a donor and then a volunteer.

Two years ago, in August of 2016 I became the sole employee of this all-volunteer organization.  In March of 2017 George Richardson, the Founder, Executive Director, and most proudly known as Carson's grandfather, retired and I was named Executive Director.

I have two beautiful children.  My oldest son Keegan is currently a freshman in high school.  If Carson Richardson were alive today, he would be in the same class as my son.  Every day I have the opportunity to go home and hug my children.  Not every family is that lucky.

Every day 46 parents hear the words "Your child has cancer."  Every day, 46 parents have their world turned upside down.  Childhood Cancer is the leading cause of death among children under the age of 15.

Carson's Crusaders Foundation exists to help these families by offering transportation assistance in the form of gas cards and sibling support in the form of fun family events where the focus is to celebrate the siblings of the cancer patient.
