About the event
This event is about art, community, and education.
The reception is for an art exhibit, and encourages the attendees to try to create a piece of art, small or large, while they are there.
The community of Buhler is a wonderful one, embracing and encouraging to one another. The unique shops do their part to help this event, and to encourage their customers to become a part of the community, even if they do not live within the town.
Steampunk revolves around history, literature, and imagination. With the promotion of this event, we introduce people to ideas and historical references they were unaware of before. Also, people are inspired by the art, demonstrations, amd music they see and research more on their own. I have welcomed new artists to the subculture with each new event I have coordinated.

Embracing art, culture, community, and literature are qualities anyone would look for in a company. When the audience sees your banner associated with this event, they will be appreciative of the support you give a small town. There are many small towns that are struggling, and by sponsoring this event, you are helping at least one small town stay afloat. Buhler is a great place, a beautiful and quaint little town that has a love for history, art and culture.
Sandra St. GeorgeBits & Bobs is an annual Steampunk art exhibit held at Mustard Seed Coffee Shop & Deli in the small town of Buhler, Kansas. The exhibit is up for 3 months, but the opening reception is a one-day event that is full of fun. The exhibit and event are curated and coordinated by Enchanted Designs.
The next exhibit, in April 2017, will have a circus/sideshow/carnivale theme. This means the artists will focus on this theme for the art they display, and the entertainment will have a focus towards this theme as well.
I am hoping to get several musical guests, a magician, and a few sideshow-style acts to perform along with the traditional fencing demonstrations I have had the last two years. I will also have a beautiful Eurasian Eagle Owl brought up from Tulsa for photo ops.
Along with entertainment, I am aiming to provide a fashion show and vendor area for the audience to enjoy. Right now I have four designers in the Steampunk genre to put a line of costumes and garments on the runway.
For the hands-on crowd, I do a kids craft at the public library; for the 2017 event we will be creating Steampunk carnivale styled masks. The adult makers will have an opportunity to play as well, with the plans of having a makers' timed competition.
Steampunk revolves around the past in the present, bringing the ideas of steam technology and mechanical power to today's applications (ie a computer that looks like an antique typewriter, or a vehicle that runs on clockwork). The imagination and creativity is endless in this subculture that embraces so many different genres and ideas.
The main focus of this event is to bring people to the small town of Buhler, boost its income and educate the audience on a wonderful aesthetic and subculture that has been around for decades. I am also aiming to turn the event into a fundraiser, by having a silent auction and maybe a raffle, to raise money for a different cause each year.
