The BiteLabs Healthtech and Innovation Fellowship is the UK's largest programme to equip clinicians with the skills, practical experience, network and confidence to work with leading tech and life sciences companies, whilst connecting employers with extraordinary clinical talent to support them to develop products that positively impact patients, at scale.

BiteLabs is brought to you by the team behind BiteWorld (BiteMedicine & BitePACES), an award-winning education technology start-up that has supported over 200,000 healthcare students and doctors over the past 2 years.

About the event 

During the Demo Day evening on Wednesday 12th April in Central London, our fellows will present the healthtech and digital health projects they have been working on over the last 8 weeks. Our team of advisors and mentors will in attendance, as well as the Accurx team, one of the country's leading digital health companies. We are expecting 120 attendees.

Our keynote speakers are Dr Susan Thomas (Director of Google Health, UK) and Dr Satya Raghuvanshi (Head of Clinical at Accurx).

Azeem Alam

My name is Azeem and I am a doctor by background, currently working as a Speciality Registrar in Clinical Radiology.

I have the privilege of also serving as a Digital Health Clinician at Cera, one of Europe's fastest-growing healthtech start-ups, and was recently elected as a Digital Health Council Member at the Royal Society of Medicine.

I am also an NHS Clinical Entrepreneur, dedicated to driving innovation in healthcare.

I co-founded and currently serve as the Director of BiteWorld (BiteMedicine, BitePACES & BiteLabs), a healthcare education technology start-up that aims to make a difference in the lives of healthcare students and professionals.

BiteLabs is currently the UK's largest fellowship programme dedicated to providing clinicians with the opportunity to learn new skills and develop vital connections to form the foundations of their healthtech careers and fulfil their desires to positively impact patients, at scale.

I was humbled to be included in the Queen's New Year's Honours List 2021 for my services to healthcare education and received the title of Medallist of the Order of the British Empire (BEM). My work has been recognized by institutions such as the Department of Health and Social Care, King's College London, Imperial College London, the Cabinet Office, the Medical Defence Union, and the British Medical Association.

I am also a proud recipient of the Imperial College London Emerging Alumni Leader Award 2022 and King's College London Distinguished Alumni Award 2022.

In addition to my clinical and entrepreneurial pursuits, I am an Honorary Clinical Research Fellow at Imperial College London. I have contributed to over 35 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, primarily in the fields of perioperative care, cancer, and domiciliary care. My work has been published in prestigious journals such as Nature and The Lancet.

Outside of my medical and academic career, I am an award-winning songwriter, registered with Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI) and collaborating with Artist Publishing Group (Los Angeles). My recent accomplishments include winning the BRIT Academy UK Songwriting Contest 2022 and the International Songwriting Awards 2022.

My passion lies in healthtech and edtech, and I am deeply committed to making a positive impact on people's lives at scale.
