About the event
Bay Area Hacks is a new student-run high-school hackathon. Hundreds of student programmers from all over the Bay Area will be present for this weekend of creating and learning. Hackathons are all about coding together to solve a real-world problem. Participants can work in teams of up to four people for twenty-four hours to create a web, mobile, or hardware application.
Our goal is to create an environment where students can apply their programming skills to create innovative products. One of the largest barriers of computer science is the inability to use coding for application purposes, and we want to solve this problem with Bay Area Hacks. By creating a code-friendly environment for high school students, they are engaged to collaborate to create innovative products. Our hackathon will also introduce computer science to people with no previous experience. We are also promoting the involvement of girls in our activities, as this hackathon will be fun and inviting, while spurring innovation and collaboration.
Bay Area Hacks can improve on the relationship between the developers and the sponsors. The hackathon allows companies to publicize their products and ideas that can help hackers in their projects. Becoming a sponsor will help the company's relation with the public, perception, and popularity. This can help form a candid relationship with the programmers of the future and receive opportunities to introduce those programmers to technologies that they will grow to love and use.
