Battle of the Pledge Dances 2016,

About the event

Theta Kappa Phi, UCLA’s first recognized Asian Interest Sorority, is hosting our 19th annual Battle of the Pledge Dances, our biggest philanthropy of the year in support of breast cancer research.  The date for this event is February 20, 2016 in UCLA’s Ackerman Grand Ballroom. If you don’t already know, Theta Kappa Phi holds a dance competition every year called “Battle of the Pledge Dances,” in which pledge classes from different fraternities and sororities showcase their dance skills in an original routine on stage.  Pledge classes battle it out for the first place trophy and of course, for the right to claim the title as champions.  In general, the night is filled with friendly competition, amazing dance routines from competitors and exhibitionists, and lots of fun.

Battle is extremely important to our sorority not only because it is our biggest fundraiser, but it is also our biggest philanthropy of the year. Our founding mother, Margaret Ohara Shinohara, passed away of breast cancer several years ago and a large portion of our proceeds are donated to the EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women.  Revlon Run/Walk is a 5k Run/Walk that raises money for breast cancer research, counseling, and outreach.

Every year, approximately 400 people attend the performances.  It is a great chance for your business to advertise to a large audience.  

For Battle, we provide programs that are distributed to the audience; this includes people from UCLA, USC, Irvine, and the greater Southern California area.  The program contains information about the sorority and our cause, as well as a section for advertisements from our sponsors.  

Sponsors in past years include silk-screening/embroidery companies, restaurants, book stores, bowling alleys, and mobile/wireless services.  All have found advertising in our pamphlets very successful in attracting new customers.  We hope that your business will consider sponsoring our events by purchasing an advertisement in our program. By doing so, your business advertisement would extend to over a four hundred new potential customers!!
