BANKSTERS - The Play
Kennington, London 3-8 March, the production team have launched a crowdfunding web-page for their provocative political play to be staged at a larger theatre venue in London.
===============================
Paul Mason of Channel 4 News described BANKSTERS “As a brilliant and painful play about the credit crunch.” It is part Jacobean tragedy, part Dario Fo - set in a City Finance House it traces the desperate struggle of three financiers – Sir George, Sir David and Sir Andrew - the Banksters - to save themselves and the capitalist system itself against the backdrop of Libor fixing, the HSBC tax dodging scandal and deepening austerity and revolt. This caustic, funny, physical, and highly charged production embraces what Michael Billington, the Guardian's theatre critic, has called the revival of political theatre.
Theater and the arts in general “which is at the heart of British democracy” has been seriously affected and challenged under austerity cuts since the 2008 crash. BANKSTERS is therefore seeking public
financial support in exchange for rewards to put the play on at a prestigious theatre venue for four weeks and a possible tour. We hope you will support this venture.
