This caustic, funny, physical, and highly charged production embraces what Michael Billington, the Guardian's theatre critic, has called the revival of political theatre.
Just days before the UK election; Banksters –The Play, written by Bill Jefferies and David Lemberg in Manchester, is a timely dramatic reminder that something is rotten in the state of Britain. Ed Miliband promises “Under a Labour government, you will no longer be serving the banks. Instead, the banks will be serving you!” The Tories have also stated that fines imposed on Deutsche Bank for its involvement in rigging of the Libor rate will be used for apprenticeships. While our trusted Bank of England faces an unprecedented criminal investigation by the Serious Fraud Squad into its behaviour at the height of the credit crunch back in 2007 and early 2008.Theater and the arts in general “which is at the heart of British democracy” has been seriously affected and challenged under austerity cuts since the 2008 crash. BANKSTERS is therefore seeking public
