  • About the event

    Jamaica Giving Hearts Inc. (JGHI), is a nonprofit organization responsible for hosting this amazing Back to School Bash for the Killeen/Kempner and surrounding areas low income families. This is our 4th year hosting this bash, we have a goal of $3k to ensure every child presented receives academic basic's. 

    This event will provide our communities with desparately needed school supplies (Book Bags, Pens, Pencils, Paper, Calculators, Construction Paper, Binders, Folders, and other supplies).  The event will provide school uniforms and shoes for the families. We've all been there and remember the challenges single and low incomes present. JGHI asks each of you to donate your time or what ever monies to make this Bash a great success.

    Why should you sponsor?

    With your support we will be able to provided much needed supplies for the disadvantaged families of Killeen/Fort Hood area. We will be able families during the most stressfull time of the year. Many families have to struggle day to day to make ends meet and we want to ease some of the stress they have to face. Your support will provide uniforms, shoes, backbags, and school supplies. You will also be providing our students with a brighter outlook when beginning a new school year. 


    JAMAICA MITCHELL

    Jamaica Mitchell, is the founder of a nonprofit organization, Jamaica Giving Hearts, Inc.  Jamaica started her nonprofit to help those in need within her community. She host back to school drives every year, which she began in 2012 while she was still on Active duty. With the support of her husband and two daughters, she was able to provide school supplies to over 300 students her first year. Her is mission is to transform our community by inspiring, empowering, and helping disadvantaged families and veterans. By providing programs and services to those in need.

      The services that she want to provide to her community, provide school supplies, uniforms, shoes, and back packs during back to school drives; will provide food vouchers to families that are in need of food; will provide assistance with utilities and rent when the event may arise; will provide transitioning wounded warriors and service members with business clothing so that they are able to go on job interviews in the right attire.  Will provide tutoring, food pantry, clothing closet, etc.

     Jamaica served in the Army honorably for 18.5 years. She was medically discharged from the Army when was injured in Iraq and suffered a sexual assault while overseas in Panama. Her nonprofit allows her to focus on others and not focus on the pain that she suffers with every day. She is a Wounded Warrior, Disabled Veteran, Devoted Mother, Breast Cancer Survivor, and a Devoted Wife to an Active Duty Service member.

     Jamaica was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2014 where she had to have a double mastectomy, but this did not stop her from having her back to school drives that she have every year.  Jamaica Mitchell is a fighter and will always fight for her family and community.
