About the event

The Association for Conflict Resolution Houston (ACRH) Chapter, a 501c3 since 2001, is holding its inaugural benefit to raise funds for the professional commitment of local mediators to initiate Peer Mediation programs within schools in the Harris County and contiguous counties.  With continued support our mission is to expand the program beyond the County and State to reach schools across the country. 

These conflict solution programs will teach junior and senior high school students how to have a better understanding of cultural diversity, to use communication skills that offer a better understanding of how to stop bullying and promote tolerance, and to learn how to use conflict management skills to understand and negotiate the dynamics of finding sustainable, peaceful solutions.  These Peer Mediation programs will be implemented through classroom and online formats, starting in January 2018.

Our Lifetime Achievement Award Gala and Celebration will be held on Sunday, September 17^th, at the Junior League of Houston.  Our keynote speakers at the dinner will be Drs. Joe Folger and Barauch Bush, the world-renowned theorists in Transformative Mediation and authors of The Promise of Mediation.  The evening will also recognize local leaders in the field of conflict resolution.

Our Association for Conflict Resolution Houston Chapter is the local professional chapter of the international organization for all conflict analysis and resolution specialists worldwide.  ACRH is dedicated to making a difference in the Houston community and beyond through this Peer Mediation program that has been so successful and welcomed in other communities across the country

Michael Jobin

I am a non-lawyer credentialed Mediator, Arbitrator and Ombudsman.  Over the past 20 years I have used my conflict resolution skills as a Healthcare Executive.  My passion for helping people in conflict and teaching our young generations the tools and benefits of Collaborative Conflict Resolution have led to me to providing conflict resolution full time.

ACR National and ACR Houston have a long standing history of supporting conflict resolution across the spectrum.  As the co-chair of the ACR Houston Gala, my duty is to provide a platform for the continued awareness and promotion of conflict resolution.
