Ash at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016,

Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom

  • About the event

    About the show:

Based on a true story, Ash explores the life of George Crozier and his journey from his first to his last cigarette.

Set against a backdrop of the tobacco industry's ever-changing advertisements, this humorous and sensitive production uses object manipulation (vintage suitcases as vintage cigarette packets!), movement and live music to explore the highs and lows of a life-long love affair with smoking. Up until the last puff, it's an addictive story of a Yorkshire community that aren't planning to quit anytime soon.

    Previous praise for Ash:

"They're inventive, gritty, vibrant, and not to be missed." A Friend of a Friend Theatre Company

"The ensemble as a whole is connected and playful" ****Remote Goat

    Why should you sponsor?

If you can help Bric à Brac on our journey to Edinburgh Fringe it would mean everything to us. It is hard to produce the money for a huge arts festival, but we are incredibly devoted to the project and have made sacrifices to make sure we will be able to show Ash to even more audience members.

However, to make this money back and have it so everyone on board doesn't lose money and eventually one day we can pay our creative team and cast would mean the world to us.

We need to raise £2500. We are planning fundraisers and performances to help make this happen but if this project interests you we are more than happy to discuss it with you and your help would make all the difference.

Please check out our social media sites for frequent updates on company happenings!

    Thank you,

    Bric à Brac

    Alice Devlin

Bric à Brac are a Lecoq trained company who graduated in June 2015. Whilst in our final year studying together we started work on early versions of Ash. The first show was at Southwark Playhouse in March 2015, and then in February 2016 at The Space Arts Centre, London.

We are a close-knit team of performers, directors, designers and musicians who love this show and want to share it with as many people as possible. Ash is based on the true story of the director, Anna Marshall's, father. It is a tragic tale told through a Lecoq-style comedy cabaret.

As a company our main aim is to tell interesting stories in new ways, and with your help we can help share Ash with many more people at the world's most inspiring arts festival; The Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
