About the event

The journey of the Art Explosion kicked off swinging at the inaugural Night of Art Explosion on June 25th, 2016, the first show. The concept behind the Art Explosion was created by Joshua Leak and Michele GG, whose goals were to bring people together, keep children off of the streets, and celebrate the art within us all, in any way possible, and the first year did just that. With only 2 months to plan, organize, and create the show, musicians, dancers, artists, and poets alike filled the stage and the hearts of everyone involved in this project. Some great new friendships were made, and for one spectacular night, the phones got put away because no one wanted to miss a beat.

This live music and art festival is the place everyone should be looking for upcoming artists to make it big in the industry, whether it's through pointed toes or paint-covered hands. The 2nd annual Art Explosion will be pulling strings and their musicians from around the country, making the Art Explosion a huge national event and an even more spectacular one. Pastor Parker and the Emmanuel Temple A.M.E Church family played an enormous role in making this event possible, and giving us the chance to let people around the community shine.

This year, on July 15th, 2017, the spirit of an entire community will be the center of the stage at Emmanuel Temple A.M.E Church, and the celebration will reach miles away. In the mission of bringing people together, and keeping kids off of the streets, we will be filling the street blocks with live art and music, reclaiming the ones burdened with hate and violence to form new life.

By sponsoring the Art Explosion, you not only allow young people from all over the nation to connect and invest time into their craft, you give young people the oppurtunity to be seen and to be heard. The Art Explosion has an audience of 100-300. This audience brings people from all different backgrounds to one location for one night a year to celebrate the differences that make us as a human race unique. Sponsoring the Art Explosion, is also furthering the careers and education of young people. With multiple guest artist scheduled to come in and work with our performers and artist, we hope that it will enhance their performance and the overall performance at Art Explosion 2017. Joshua Leak

My name is Josha Leak. I am a Sr. at Lyons Township High School in La Grange, Illinois. I am the founder and head of the Art Explosion. I've been playing cello for just about 15 years, songwriting since I was 7 and playing the drums since I was 4. I plan on attending Berklee College of Music where I have already recieved a Full Tuition Scholarship to go. I came up with the Art Explosion about a year ago. I had always wanted to put on a Gallery and Concert with some of the best people I know that will eventually be running the music and visual arts scene. I along with 2 of my closest friends, began planning April of 2016 for our first ever Art Explosion. Hosting the Art Explosion was truly a blessing and being the head of it all has shown me how to lead a business. I have also teached students how to play the cello and I am currently Principal Cellist of 2 Orchestras. Sponsors should trust me because I can lead and have an amazing team helping me out. I am young but I am confident in what I want and am able to articulate exactly what is needed.
