Gullah Braai is a Social affair bringing awareness to the Gullah/Geechee Culture of the Lowcountry of Charleston, SC. This Southern Barbecue Social Affair is an 5 open fire Grills catering to a different meat and veggies as a table of southern and african traditional favorites accompanied by great spirited drinks of the season. The Braai is a celebration of the Gullah culture filled with music, stories and dancing. The history of the Gullah/Geechee people is traced back through the Caribbean to southwestern and southern region of the African continent prior to slavery. The Gullah Barbeque is a annual event giving reverence cultural of social affairs. In rediscovering the oral history of a Lowcountry. The Gullah Braai will be located on the national historic landmark of the Seashore Farmers Museum Culture and African American Center Grounds to give reverence to the Gullah Geechee culture of the Sol Legare Island Sea Island. A portion of the proceeds raised from the Gullah Braai will be donated to the community grounds for Museum Beautification.
