Now in its 5th year, the Animal Film Festival is designed to bring about social change for the welfare of all animals.
During the AFF, speakers, filmmakers, awards and even the food, are intended to inspire film-goers to become active in improving the lives of animals who continue to face huge odds on so many fronts.
Animals have few legal protections and are exploited in a myriad of ways. The films screened at the AFF inpsire people to take action to save lives and end suffering.
To ensure a balance of films that entertain as well as educate, the AFF also screens funny, warm-hearted and joyful films.
The AFF is produced by the Center for Animal Protection & Education (CAPE) a non-profit animal advocacy organization with locations in both Santa Cruz and Grass Valley, California. This all day festival takes place during a weekend at the end of February or beginning of March to entertain and enlighten audiences with independent films, comedies, documentaries, and work by emerging artists.
Films may explore any aspect of animal welfare, animal rights, the human/animal bond or programs demonstrating ways to improve the lives of animals.
During the festival, kindness towards animals will be evident in the food and beverages served, and the products made available to audiences, filmmakers and other participants.
Filmmakers whose films are featured in the festival will be our guests at a special event the night before the festival.
The Animal Film Festival (AFF) takes place at the Center for the Arts in the historic town of Grass Valley California. The AFF is a beloved annual event within the community, but it also reaches a broader audience through on-tour visits to cities across California; the AFF Global On Tour package which brings the event to audiences around the world; and the AFF Channel streaming on ROKU.
The AFF is presented by the non-profit organization Center for Animal Protection & Education (CAPE) - all donations made by our sponsors are tax deductible. AFF sponsors are the VIP's of the AFF. They will receive free tickets, free advertising in AFF marketing materials such as posters and flyers; advertising in the AFF program and on the big screen where their logos are featured in slides during the pre-show. AFF sponsors enjoy knowing that their donations help support animal rescue programs.
