  • About the event

American Legion Riders Post 96, Morgan City, LA is proud to host the 2nd Annual Freedom Fest, held on Memorial Day Weekend at the judges stand area  by Lake Palourde to support veterans and veteran organizations, along with area non-profit organizations.  We invite everyone  to come on out and enjoy the best in local area entertainment, children's activities, as well the best  of Southern Louisiana cuisine. Dock facilities are also available for visitors coming by boat.

Military veterans- both active and not active, along with local and state dignitaries, are welcome to give short speeches between the band sets, as there will be an open mike.

    Why should you sponsor?

While Memorial Day Weekend is a few months away, we cannot do this without the generous support of sponsors and supporters, while net proceeds go to Louisiana based charitable causes such as the Southeast Louisiana War Veteran's home and American Legion Charities, while simultaneously supporting local non-profit organizations such as Marine Corps League, Boy Scouts, St. Mary Council on Aging, St. Johns Lodge, and more! This event is for the community, by the community.

We look forward to another successful event this Memorial Day weekend, and appreciate the support of St. Mary Parish and the City of Morgan City, and all organizations volunteering their time and efforts in putting this together.

All corporate sponsorships and donations are obtained on a grass roots level.  While we appreciate the fact that our area is experiencing an economic  downturn, help us make this a success for all who come out to enjoy the weekend, while supporting the organizations and their charitable causes who help put his together by your tax deductible donations and sponsorships.  Every little bit helps.  Thank you!

While Memorial Day weekend is a few months away, American Legion Riders Post 96 in Morgan City has already made significant strides in pulling together this year’s Freedom Fest, which will be held at Lake Palourde in Morgan City.  (www.alrfreedomfest.com) (https://www.facebook.com/alrfreedomfest/)

As was the case last year, net proceeds as a result of our efforts go to American Legion Charities, such as Operation Comfort Warriors, while we also support local veteran organizations such as the Southeast Louisiana War Veteran’s Home in Reserve, LA.

With that said, this is a true grassroots effort while bringing the community together once again to raise funds and awareness of their respective causes, while providing the community with a much needed respite from the economic downturn.

In addition to a fantastic music lineup, children’s activities, a bike show, bike games, and the 14th Annual Freedom Ride (May 29th), there will also be  will be a chicken wing cook-off on the Saturday (May 28th)(we are seeking cook-off teams at this time),  sponsored and hosted by Morgan’s Restaurant at Clarion Inn (soon to be former Holiday Inn, Morgan City.

We are all very aware of the current economic downturn in this area, while sponsorships that we rely on to pull the event together and to raise funds for Legion Charities and area veterans in need may be a bit more challenging this year as compared to last year.   As a result, we are holding a fundraiser cookout on March 20th at Lake End Park in Morgan City, with live music and auction.

Sponsors this year will have access to the judges stand pavilion, which offers an overview of the lake, fest grounds and the bandstand, as well as free parking passes to the event.

Should you wish to sponsor the event or participate in any way feel free to contact me at any time if you have questions and also feel free to share this with anyone within your circles who may have an interest in being a part of this event.
