About the event

Ambition Conferences are aimed at improving the personal financial literacy of adolescents to prepare them for the real world. The conference will be targeted towards adolescents from grade 7 and up and will have workshops, speakers, and even a mobile game. Everything about the conference will be aimed at making it enjoyable, educational, and memorable. 

Why should you sponsor?

Personal financial literacy is key when moving into the professional world, and at the moment, Canada is in a financial literacy problem. For instance, only 36% of Canadians understood that just the act of applying for a credit card can negatively affect your credit score. Furthermore, when given a 15 question quiz, it is clear that there’s a generational divide when it comes to financial literacy. While more than half of baby boomers passed the quiz, only 31% of millennials did. Worse yet, millennials were the most confident when it came to assessing their own financial literacy — 18% rated their knowledge as excellent, versus 14% of all Canadians. Therefore, the need for classes for financial literacy is growing by the day. With just simple conferences such as Ambition, with workshops, speakers, and even a personal financial literacy game, it can teach adolescents and generations all they need for their future. To make this possible, we need funding, supplies, and anything that can be provided. Sponsors will receive recognition and even chances to promote their products or companies to the attendees, gaining awareness. 

Kevin Ouyang

My name is Kevin Ouyang, and I am the head of the External Communications Committee for Ambition Conferences. I am currently in grade 11 at St. Francis Xavier Secondary School. I feel that business and finances are things that I really enjoy and want to pursue in post-secondary education. I'm currently in other clubs and organizations as either a member or executive, as well as my part-time job as a lifeguard for the City of Mississauga. On the side, I like just brainstorming ideas for future businesses or events that could help me gain experience or exposure. Another one of my interests in engineering and computer science. I am currently working on learning a variety of coding languages. Other than these things, I'm just a typical high school student with big dreams. I enjoy watching Netflix in my spare time, and I am a foodie, so I like going around Mississauga and checking out new restaurants. Exercising and going to the gym are personal hobbies of mine (to burn off the junk food I constantly eat, since I am a regular teenager).
