AgriBusiness-Training,

Tanzania Tanzania

  • About the event

    Background

Engaging Tanzanian youth in agriculture can provide a solution for the current and many future challenges related to food security, unemployment, urbanization and climate change in our country. However, young people in developing countries are faced with a numerous of challenges such as lack of inclusion into the policy dialogues, lack of access to finance, access to land and other critical factors of production. This as a result has led to lack of interest in agriculture (agribusiness) by many young people.

We all know how profitable agribusiness is in Tanzania, the right equipment, capital and skills is one of the easiest ways of generating an honest income for young people and community. It doesn’t require a lot capital to start and provides good returns over a short period of time.

    About AgriBusiness

The concept of making money from agriculture sounds sweet and easy but, however before the establishment of agribusiness venture someone must possess the right training with the farming business he/she wants to engage in.

This is why we have developed AgriBusiness-Training Project that will help the youth get a better chance to succeed in agriculture. The modules will be designed to equip the youth with knowledge that will prepare them as they run their business.

In addition, the project aims to work with banks and microfinance institutions to help promote the design of financial products that work for young farmers. Youth are to be trained on financial literacy, credit management and the importance of creating income patterns and establishing a credit history in order to access and service commercial loans.

    The Overall Objective

To create, strengthen and support Tanzanian youth in establishing and managing agricultural businesses, in addition to reduce poverty and chronic youth unemployment.

    Specific Objectives

    • To provide training and technical assistance in agronomy helps youth (Youth Groups) to produce and market their products.
    • Supporting youth and youth groups to access commercial finance to sustain and expand their businesses.
    • Linking the youth to markets and supporting them in the negotiation of contract farming agreements with buyers.
