  • About the event

After the Summer of Love After Hours, is the first fund raising event for San Francisco School of Needlework and Design (SNAD), a 501(c)(3). The highlight of the event will be the exhibition of many of the pieces from our Summer of Love: What Matters to You Now Challenge, which attracted over 600 embroidery artists from 30 countries. In keeping with our mission to promote the heritage craft of hand embroidery, there will be stations set up with a variety of embroidery activiites, including our giant 10x10 denim peace symbol that is a communal art work. We will also employ a photo booth for instant social media postings during the event. The event is taking place in the Google Community Space for nonprofits at 188 Embarcadero, San Francisco, CA, on September 12, 2017 at 6pm. Google caterers will provide hors d'oeuvres and drinks to 150 guests. SNAD is the only school in the United States that is dedicated to preserving a wide range of heritage hand embroidery techniques, many of which are on the list crafts in danger of becoming extinct. We intend this to be an interactive and playful event.

    Why should you sponsor?

We will be listing all sponsors on event day material and including in post event social media posts. We will also be sure to mention and highlight you and your company during the event.

San Francisco School of Needlework and Design (SNAD) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation founded in 2015. The school opened in June 2016, and our mission is to promote and share the knowledge and history of hand embroidery and needlework to ensure its future as a valued art form. The Co-Founders, Lucy Barter and Ellice Sperber, as well as our Outreach Coordinator/Instructor, all have credentials from the Royal School of Needlework. We offer classes from beginner through professional, and are the only hand embroidery/heritage craft education school of this type in the United States. We offer weekly free of charge Stitch Ins and scholarship seats in most of our other classes. We are known for our Challenges, which draw international participation with three exhibitions each year. SNAD is a start-up with solid expertise and a large and enthusiastic community of students, volunteers and supporters.
