Afasic Christmas Concert 2017,

St Andrew Holborn, London, England, United Kingdom St Andrew Holborn, London, England, United Kingdom

  • About the event

This is the biennial Christmas concert to celebrate the good works of the charity Afasic helping children & young people affected by speech, language and communication disabilities and their families. It will also see the launch of the Afasic 50th Anniversary year. The concert is led by young people who have benefited from the work of the charity and will include a signing choir.

We are delighted that the wonderful Sir Derek Jacobi has agreed to do a reading; Robert Meadmore, star of West End musicals, has agreed to perform; and the Concordia Chamber Choir has also agreed to take part and will be providing music throughout the evening.

The concert will kick off the Afasic 50th Anniversary celebrations and there will be FREE wine and mince pies on arrival! Doors will open at 6.00pm and the concert will begin at 7.00pm, finishing at approximately 8.30pm.

    Why should you sponsor?

    Make a difference!

We are asking sponsors to join our members, friends and supporters who very generously make a donation and SPONSOR this amazing event for Afasic. It is through efforts like these that we’re improving the life chances of children and young people living with the hidden disability of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).

Examples of how your support can make a difference include:

    • £5 a month for a year will keep our helpline open for 2 hours
    • £20 pays for a free family information pack
    • £125 pays for a young person to attend an activity day or self-advocacy course
    • £190 pays for a young person to attend an Afasic youth project for a term
    • £500 pays for 4 children to attend an activity day
    • £1,300 will support the club night activities for one of our youth groups for a year
    • £4,300 will fund one week long transition summer school course, supporting children about to move from primary to secondary school
    • £10,000 will keep our parent helpline open for 4 months

    How your money is spent

    For every £1 we receive:

    • 76p goes directly to our work with children, young people and their families, living with SLCN
    • 17p goes towards the governance, administration and running costs of the organisation
    • 7p is invested to generate further income

Afasic is a specialist UK charity providing help and support to children, young people and families affected by speech, language and communication disabilities. Over 1 million children and young people are affected by this often hidden disability. Without help, those affected are disadvantaged educationally, socially, and economically.

You can trust us as we have been established since 1968, where we have been working directly with children and young people to develop their communication, social and life skills; reduce their social isolation; and give them the opportunity to reach their true potential. Afasic provides information, support and training for parents so that they can better support their child.
